In 2021, once Jordanna was born, we realized that she wasn’t breastfeeding well and because of this, my milk supply was decreasing fast! I needed to do something and quick to increase my supply so I would not lose it and so we could feed Jordanna! I did a number of things to increase my milk supply, but one thing I did that made a noticeable difference was ordering and using Milky Mama products. If you have ever breastfed before then you know what a letdown feels like when your baby is feeding. Well, with Jordanna, I was not feeling this. After I ordered 2 of their oral supplements, I noticed a huge difference my milk quality, in actually feeling the letdown when Jordanna would feed, and a difference in my milk supply in general.
The two supplements I ordered were: Dairy Duchess and Lady Leche. They honestly tasted great in my opinion and worked so well I decided to become an affiliate with them because I believe in their products so much. They contain natural ingredients that give you numerous benefits depending on what you need/want to happen with your milk supply. So, if you or someone you knows if having issues with their milk supply, send them to Milky Mama Canada! The referral link will give them 5% off their order or use Code KAmell10 to get 10% off your order!
Information on the supplements I used, copied and pasted from the Milky Mama Canada website:
Lady Leche Ingredients:
Black Seed is a nutrient packed seed believed to stimulate prolactin release, increase breast refill rate, increase milk production, and promote the growth of mammary tissue.
Stinging Nettle Leaf is a powerful leaf believed to support lactation by providing essential nutrients and supports thyroid function.
Milk Thistle helps increase milk production, stimulates mammary growth, and supports thyroid function.
Fennel Seed has been known to increase milk production and flow, stimulate the letdown reflex, enrich milk, stimulate mammary tissue growth, and helps ease gas/colic in babies. Dairy Duchess Ingredients:
Goat’s Rue is a powerful herb that works directly with mammary tissue to stimulate the production and flow of breastmilk.
Alfalfa Leaf is a super nutritious, hormone-balancing herb known to promote the development of the glandular tissue of the breasts, increase milk production and enrich milk.
Marshmallow Root is highly nutritive, helps boost the effect of other galactagogues and enrich milk.
Fennel Seed has been known to increase milk production and flow, stimulate letdown reflex, enrich milk, stimulate mammary tissue growth, and helps ease gas/colic in babies.
My situation was a little complicated. Jordanna had a tongue tie that did not get corrected until she was about 5-6 weeks old which made breastfeeding difficult. She could only feed while we were lying down in bed, so nighttime feeds were easy! I have a video from my YouTube channel about increasing my milk supply and everything I did actually worked. I increased my milk supply from 0.5 oz – 1 oz per breast, to almost filling 8 oz bottles with breast milk within a week! The things I was doing before I received my Milky Mama products were:
- Increasing my intake of oats by making these Starbucks Copycat Oat Bars which are just delicious in general! I also added brewers yeast a few times to this recipe because I had read that brewers yeast will increase your milk supply and that is an ingredient in many baked goods that company’s sell as lactation products.
- Not worrying. This was difficult because you’re worrying about if your baby is getting enough to eat which Jordanna was not, but also worrying about losing weight after a baby is born, etc. These can all cause stress which can cause your milk supply to decrease.
- Mother’s Milk tea is a tea I purchased and drank 3-5 cups per day. It contains many of the same ingredients as the Milky Mama products to give you the same benefits like fennel and thistle.
- Pumped every 3-4 hours during the day using my Medela Freestyle pump (which I also highly recommend!), and did a “super session” at night after feeding Jordanna. A “super session” pumping session is: pumping for 20 minutes, waiting 20 minutes, pumping again for 20 minutes, waiting 20 minutes, and then doing a final pumping session for 20-30 minutes. I left the pump on the whole time until the end. This is supposed to signal your milk supply that your baby is still hungry and cause it to create more milk. Sure, this sucked having to do this at 3:00am, but it was worth it!
- Drink water! Ensuring you are staying hydrated throughout the day is essential to breast milk production since your milk supply is made up mainly of water.
Since I did so many things to increase my milk supply, I cannot give credit to one specific thing to say, “Yes! This one thing increased my milk supply!” What I can say though is that even with all of the things I did above to increase my milk supply, I still never felt a letdown happen until I started to take the Milky Mama supplements. I remember the feeling from when I was breastfeeding Joseph, but did not feel that with Jordanna until those supplements arrived. Then, I was feeling the letdown happen and it was a good one! I also noticed that my milk was a thicker and not like a cloudy water type of liquid. It still took Jordanna 5 months after she was born to learn how to exclusively breastfeed and the things I stuck with were pumping, taking the Milky Mama supplements, and eating those Oat Bars and my milk supply stayed high until we stopped breastfeeding!
Would I Recommend this Product: YES
