Well it’s been a while! I had a “Spring 2023” post started and then we got a tad busy. Then, there was so much that has been going on that I am putting each month into their own post. That way they are more “short and sweet” versus these long chapter books I keep giving you guys for updates.
April was super busy! As you may have seen, we started homeschooling. I gave the boys some time to wind down from the traditional school environment and so we could get into our own new routine at home. Yes, I know…..“but Kelsey, you just had a baby!!! And now you’re homeschooling?!?!” I know….I told you we were busy! You can check out the page I have dedicated to the homeschooling journey. It has become quite a passion project for me as well. I am having a lot of fun creating a curriculum for them and finding resources online. I also believe that this information should be free or at least not $100+ per subject per grade, because it would cost a lot of money if you purchased all of the programs you wanted to implement in your homeschool curriculum. I am having a tough time finding all the materials, only because I have limited time to do it and I don’t want to pay an arm and a leg for it all. Once I figure everything out, I will be adding it to the homeschool pages for my reference and for anyone else who wants to use it! I think I like the idea of having the kids work in workbooks because it is a great way for them to learn a lot of skills like time management, working independently, work ethic, etc. We also get to focus on teaching the kids the lessons that are important to us.
Josh is continuing to get through the textbooks he wants to finish before the summer begins. That way he only has one more course left to work on over the summer so he can be ready to move on once he returns to work in September. He has also been working hard at getting the attic ready to be spray foamed. He has built the wall on the back of the house and family members came to help clean out the attic of all of the junk that was left up there from previous owners. We are almost ready to fully finish the attic and perhaps this summer will be when we put the dry wall up since Josh is off. *Fingers crossed* I think the boys will love having their own space up there.
Easter weekend was when we were able to coordinate to get a lot of the work started to clean up the attic and then two weeks later was when the attic was framed, prepped, and ready for the spray foaming! Shout out to Owen and his girlfriend for helping us to clean out the junk from the attic and to Christine and Pierre for helping to frame the attic. We did have a great Easter albeit a unique one with all the work being done. The kids still enjoyed an egg hunt, however I have to say they were quite disappointed that there was no scavenger hunt this time. I have to keep them on their toes so they don’t expect them (LOL) but in all seriousness, I just was not in the right mindset to try to plan a great scavenger hunt on top of everything else going on. Perhaps I will surprise them on a non-typical holiday like All Saints Day with a scavenger hunt.
Joshua started try-outs for competitive soccer this month, so you will have to wait to see whether he makes the team. He is also signed up for regular house league soccer and a week of soccer camp in August. Jonathan is doing the soccer camp as well. We are trying to plan out our summer so the family can have a fun filled summer that does not cost a TON of money, so if you have suggestions for activities anywhere from Cornwall to Ottawa to Perth to Toronto/Niagara, then let me know! We don’t mind the travel!
Jonah is 2 months old this month which is wild! Time is flying by so fast! He is so fascinated at the faces of his siblings. He just loves looking at them. Bosco turned 3 years old this month, Jonathan turned 8 years old this month and Jordanna turned 2 years old this month! I am excited to celebrate their birthday’s with family because I feel like we don’t get together as often as we should. Jon invited friends from school to a Splatmaster party at Stingers where the kids had a blast! You can check out all of the spring birthday fun at this blog post.
You can see all of the pics from the month and some short videos from Easter as well through the YouTube link below.
